Hard work and fun too!
At Best's Academy of Martial Arts, it's not about what you wear, it's about what you are.
We have a passion for martial arts, and why not? It's fun, it's educational, and it's a great way to stay active! However, it is also hard work. Wearing a belt does not make someone a martial artist. The word "martial artist" itself has a strong connotation attached to it. It brings to mind hard work, skill, and discipline. It is also a word that stays with the student outside the walls of the studio. When someone learns that one is a "martial artist", they automatically raise their expectations for this person. We are very passionate about bringing our students up to meet the expectations set for them.
Black Belt.
These two words bring with them an eminence amount of respect and responsibility. Only through years of hard work and dedication does someone become a black belt. Notice that I said become, not obtain, have, or possess. This is because there is a transformation that needs to happen within one's self to earn the title of black belt. A popular question asked when meeting someone who practices martial arts is "are you a black belt?" The public doesn't see a person who owns a black belt, they see a "black belt." Our ultimate goal is to train our students into becoming black belts. The only thing a belt is good for is holding up pants.
